Windy Point Bypass TH #1846

The Windy Point Bypass is a motorized trail located north of Glenwood Springs. The Bypass is 3 miles long, beginning and ending at intersections with Transfer Trail #602. As its name suggests, the Bypass provides an alternate route for visitors who wish to avoid following Transfer Trail around Windy Point. The Bypass is particularly useful during the spring and fall, when snow banks on Windy Point can make travel hazardous.

The Windy Point Bypass is rough and narrow, with mid to moderate grades. The Bypass leads visitors through an evergreen forest with occasional views of the surrounding topography. From the north end of the Bypass, continue following Transfer Trail up into the southeastern Flat Tops.

This route is open to motorized vehicles 62 inches or less in width. It is also open to foot, horse, and bicycle use.
