Gooseberry Administrative Site Cabin

Overview
The Gooseberry Administrative Site Cabin Rentals are historic structures. Guests are required to keep the facility clean during their stay and clean up prior to departing. Maid service is not available. A volunteer host is on site to answer questions and assist with your stay. 

Facilities
There are 3 bunk cabins (50 single beds), a large recreation hall (tables and chairs), kitchen, bathroom with showers, picnic tables, and a small amphitheater with fire circle (wood provided). This site is at a high elevation (7,900 feet), come prepared for inclement weather. 

Bring your own bedding, cooking gear, utensils, dishes, insect repellent, toiletries, towels and washcloths, first aid kit, and any other personal items you may require. The kitchen is equipped with a large propane cooking range with oven, three small propane refrigerators, sinks with hot water, and preparation tables. Several picnic tables are available near the kitchen. 

The bathroom facility has flush toilets, sinks and warm showers. A propane generator is available for electric power for only a couple hours in the morning and a couple hours in the evening.  No telephone or emergency services are available outside of the nearest town. The stairs are steep and may be slick when wet. Use caution. These are historic buildings and are not very accessible for people with disabilities.

Natural Features
Gooseberry is situated in the Gooseberry drainage south of Interstate 70 in central Utah at an approximate elevation of 8,000 feet. Dense stands of aspen trees forest the area, offering shade and beautiful autumn color during the fall.

Recreation
 Popular activities in the nearby area include off-highway vehicle riding (ATV), fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and viewing scenery.

Reservations are required to rent the Gooseberry Administrative Site Cabins and can be made online by visiting Recreation.Gov, or by telephone at 877-444-6777. This site does not honor America the Beautiful passes.

General Information

Access is available from Mid-June through the Beginning of September.

Check-in time is 2:00 p.m. Check-out time is by 11:00 a.m.

  • No ATVs allowed on site. No smoking allowed inside the buildings.
  • Quiet time is between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am Mountain Time.
  • Follow local fire restrictions and fully extinguish campfires.
  • Pack out all trash and follow leave no trace principles.
  • Please leave the facilities and surroundings as well or better than you found them.
  • Comply with signs and barriers and leave gates as you found them.

Overnight Use: $300/night (250 people).

  • Pets are not allowed in any of the buildings or cabins and should be on a leash or caged.
  • Pets must be leashed at all times within this recreation area. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors and to protect wildlife.
  • Clean up dog waste and dispose of it properly.
  • Keep dogs from chasing, harassing, and disturbing wildlife or other visitors.

Directions

Gooseberry Administrative Site is located approximately 19 miles southeast of Salina Utah. In Salina at the junction of Main Street and State Street, head south on State Street for approximately 2 miles until you reach I-70. Turn left (east) onto I-70 east-bound from Salina, for approximately 6.5 miles. Exit I-70 at Gooseberry Road (Exit 63), and then turn right (south) on the Gooseberry Road (County Road #640), a two-lane paved road, for about 10 miles. The Administrative Site is just past the Gooseberry Campground (south).  See link below for google map directions.

Potable water is available from water faucets located in campground during operating season (June - October).

Please do not connect hoses to water faucets

Help us maintain a sanitary drinking water supply by refraining from connecting hoses to drinking water faucets. These types of connections create potential pathways for contaminates to enter the system. Water faucets are provided throughout this campground.
