Water Activities
Enjoy the many lakes and reservoirs found throughout the forest, such as Fish Lake, Kent's Lake, Forsyth Reservoir, and Big Lake. Only a few lakes on the forest are large enough to allow motorized boating. Be sure to check regulations with your local district office and visit Utah Department of Recreation for more information.
*Please note, all watercraft users in Utah, including paddleboards and kayaks, must complete an annual Mussel-Aware Boater Course and have proof of completion readily available
Boating - Motorized
Only a few lakes on the forest are large enough to allow motorized boating, including the following:
- Fish Lake
- Johnson Valley Reservoir
- Mill Meadow Reservoir
Trolling is a favorite method anglers use on these lakes. Please observe any specific lake and reservoir regulations posted by the boat ramps and help keep these areas free of litter. For more information on motorized boating and fishing in Utah, please visit the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation. For more information, contact your local district office or visit the Utah Department of Recreation website. For other general questions regarding watercraft restrictions, please contact the Utah Department of Recreation via email: boating@utah.gov. or by phone: (801) 538-5500
Boating - Non-Motorized
Numerous small lakes and ponds on the forest may be explored and enjoyed using small non-motorzized boats including canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, rafts, as well as float/fish tubes. *A non-motorized boat is any boat or vessel that is not powered by a motor or engine, instead relying on human power (i.e. paddles or oars), or wind power like sails for propulsion.
For more information, contact your local district office or visit the Utah Department of Recreation website For other general questions regarding watercraft restrictions, please contact the Utah Department of Recreation via email: boating@utah.gov. or by phone: (801) 538-5500
