Forsyth Reservoir Boat Ramp Rec Site
Overview
The Forsyth Reservoir recreation area is located north of Loa, Utah and provides access to Forsyth Reservoir, a 158-acre impoundment of UM Creek. The boat ramp and recreation area provide opportunity for the hand-launching of small, non-motorized boats, fishing, and dispersed camping on the east shore. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) stocks Forsyth Reservoir annually with fingerling tiger and splake, while Colorado River cutthroat trout are occasionally stocked when extra numbers are produced. Cutthroat trout can also make their way downstream from UM Creek.
Facilities
A vault toilet bathroom is available. No drinking water or garbage receptacles are provided; visitors need to be prepared to pack out what they bring in.
Natural Features
The recreation area is located on the Fremont River Ranger District in a high desert, sagebrush-covered valley with scenic views of Forsyth Reservoir and the surrounding areas.
Recreation
Recreation opportunities include fishing, non-motorized boating, hiking, and OHV trail riding. Much of the eastern shoreline of Forsyth Reservoir is accessible for shore fishing by way of gravel roads from Utah Highway 72. Small boats can be hand-launched at the ramp, while float tubes can be effective when the wind isn't blowing too hard.
General Information
Notice: The parasite that causes whirling disease is known to occur in Forsyth Reservoir. Please prevent the spread of whirling disease by thoroughly cleaning mud from your waders after fishing here and letting them dry completely before wading at another location.
