Partnerships
Partnerships increase the Fishlake National Forest's stewardship capacity by connecting people within communities and meeting mutual natural resource goals. Today, collaboration has become essential to fulfilling the Forest Service mission of "Caring for the land and serving people". Communities, private landowners, corporations, non-profit organizations and citizens are critical components. They help develop long-range management plans, carry out conservation and stewardship projects and provide natural resource goods and services.
Partnerships result in benefits to communities and the Forest Service. Recent agency initiatives such as the National Fire Plan and the Healthy Forest Initiative are excellent examples of partnerships in action.
Fishlake Partnerships
Friends of Pando

The Fishlake National Forest partners with the Friends of Pando, which works to facilitate on-the-ground projects that enhance visitor enjoyment and protect the Pando Aspen Clone. They solicit resources to support and leverage the capacity of the forest and its partners. Friends of Pando connect communities to their public lands and inspire stewardship through education and volunteerism. All volunteering and donations exclusively benefit the projects and visitors on the Fishlake National Forest.

Southern Utah University

The Intergovernmental Internship Cooperative (IIC) is a partnership between Southern Utah University, various land management agencies, outdoor recreation focused businesses, foundations, nonprofits, and Native American tribes of southern Utah, northern Arizona and eastern Nevada. Together, this partnership has developed challenging internship opportunities for students from most SUU degree programs and a diversity of exciting professional fields. IIC agency partners mentor interns providing "real world" work experience that complements their academic pursuits and helps prepare students for successful careers.
