Pineview Reservoir Restrictions
The following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System Lands and water known as Pineview Reservoir as described in this order. The lands and water known as Pineview Reservoir affected by this order are located all within the Ogden Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

PROHIBITIONS:
Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b) the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System Lands and water known as Pineview Reservoir as described in this order. The lands and water known as Pineview Reservoir affected by this order are located all within the Ogden Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This order is in effect from June 30, 2022 through June 30, 2027 as described below and shown on attached map.
- Possessing a beverage which is defined as an alcoholic beverage by Utah State Law (32B-1-102(3)) outside of a developed campground, marina/boat ramp or being upon the water at Pineview Reservoir.
[36 CFR 261.58(bb)]. - Anchoring a boat, watercraft, or any other water vessel within 20 feet of the shoreline between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. [36 CFR 261.58(n)]
- Use of docks. No swimming, diving, fishing is allowed on or within 50 feet of public facilities located on Pineview Reservoir. [36 CFR 261.53(e)]
- Igniting, building, maintaining, or using a fire, including charcoal and briquettes except in permanently constructed fire rings and grills within developed campground and recreation sites. [36 CFR 261.52 (a)]
- Camping except within developed campgrounds as described below and shown on attached map. [36 CFR 261.58(e)]
- Possessing or operating a motorized boat, watercraft, or vessel within a developed/designated swimming area. [36 CFR 261.58(n)]
- Operating a boat, watercraft, or vessel in excess of a wakeless and or trolling speed within a designated wakeless area. [36 CFR 261.58(q)]
- Possessing, using or storing any type of glass container except in the following areas; lawn covered areas at Cemetery Point picnic area, Middle Inlet picnic area, Anderson Cove, and Jefferson Hunt campgrounds. [36 CFR 261.58 (cc)]
- Operating a boat, watercraft, or vessel in violation of Utah State Law, to wit; Title 73-18, 18a and 18b on Pineview Reservoir. [36 CFR 261.58(k)]
- Possessing, discharging, or using any kind of firework or other pyrotechnic device on National Forest system Lands at Pineview Reservoir. [36 CFR 261.52(f)]
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e) the following persons are exempt from this order:
- Persons with a permit specifically exempting them from the effect of this order.
- Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Federal or State administrative personnel in the performance of an official duty.
AREA DESCRIBED:
All National Forest System lands within the vicinity of Pineview Reservoir, including the entire shoreline, beaches, developed campgrounds/recreation areas and water surface located in Township 7 North, Range 1 East, Sections 34 and 36; Township 6 North, Range 1 East, Sections 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16; Township 6 North, Range 2 East, Sections 7, 18 and 19 all within the Salt Lake Base Meridian and as shown on attached map.
PURPOSE:
To be consistent with Weber County alcohol ordinance 2017-20 and Utah State Boating and Safety regulations in order to show cohesive enforcement on and around Pineview Reservoir.
IMPLEMENTATION:
- This Order will be in effect when signed June 30, 2022 through June 30, 2027
- A map identifying the closure area is attached and made part of this Order.
- Any violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an individual or $10,000.00 for an organization, and/or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months. [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3571(b) (6), Title 18 USC 3581 (b) (7)].

- This order supersedes any previous Order prohibiting the same, or similar acts in the areas (and/or roads or trails) covered by this Order and descripted above.

32B-1-102. Definitions.
As used in this title:
(3) "Alcoholic beverage" means the following:
(a) beer; or
(b) liquor.
(4) (a) "Alcoholic product" means a product that:
(i) contains at least .5% of alcohol by volume; and
(ii) is obtained by fermentation, infusion, decoction, brewing, distillation, or other process that uses liquid or combinations of liquids, whether drinkable or not, to create al cohol in an amount equal to or greater than .5% of alcohol by volume.
(b) "Alcoholic product" includes an alcoholic beverage.
(c) "Alcoholic product" does not include any of the following common items that otherwise come within the definition of an alcoholic product:
(i) except as provided in Subsection (4)(d), an extract
(ii) vinegar;
(iii) preserved nonintoxicating cider;
(iv) essence;
(v) tincture;
(vi) food preparation; or
(vii) an over-the-counter medicine.
(d) "Alcoholic product" includes an extract containing alcohol obtained by distillation when it is used as a flavoring in the manufacturing of an alcoholic product.
