Pineview Reservoir

Current Conditions
Anderson Cove boat launch is closed as of 7/20/2026. The campground and day use areas will remain open for camping, picnicking, and personal non-motorized watercraft access as long as it continues to be an option. No site wide closures are being considered at this time as boat launching is only one type of recreation offered at this site. Cemetery Point boat launch remains open. We will be monitoring conditions and will update when the water is too low for launching. Once boat launching is closed, day use areas will remain open for camping, picnicking, and personal non-motorized watercraft access as long as it continues to be an option. No site wide closures are being considered at this time as boat launching is only one type of recreation offered at this site. Visitors are reminded that motorized vehicle use at Pineview Reservoir is always prohibited for public safety and resource protection. As additional areas of the reservoir become exposed during receding water levels, motorized vehicle use will still not be allowed. Pelican/Quist Beach: Open. Vault restrooms available at North Arm Trailhead, Pelican/Quist Beach. Windsurfer Beach (temporarily closed) Port Ramp Marina, day -use and dry storage project closure in effect.

The Port Ramp and Pineview Trail (Windsurfer Beach) are Closed.

Portions of the Pineview west trail are also closed.

All other sites at Pineview Recreation Area are available.

Anderson Cove boat ramp is open with limited parking.

Changes are continuing to the Port Boat Ramp and Pineview Trailhead (Windsurfer Beach) area on the western shores of Pineview Reservoir to improve the visitor experience and provide safer access to recreation sites.

The project includes building a new road near Pineview Trailhead to connect with the trailhead, constructing a new day-use site (New Point), and improving Port Boat Ramp. The Pineview Trailhead will also be reconstructed with new access routes to the beach, a new parking lot, restrooms, garbage services, and picnic sites, and an information kiosk. The New Point Day Use Area will include a parking area, restrooms, access routes, picnic sites, garbage services, and information kiosks. The Port Boat Ramp reconstruction will include a new road, fee stations, and an aquatic species inspection area.

Construction has begun and will continue through 2026. A full site closure is in effect during the entire construction period for public safety. Work is underway on improvements to the shoreline at Pineview Trailhead and New Point. No public access will be allowed at any time during construction.

The popular recreation area was originally developed between 1959 (Port Ramp) and 1979 (Pineview Trailhead) and has exceeded the design life of the facilities. Increased visitor use has required a redesign of traffic flow at the site to reduce conflict with traffic on State Route 158.

The Forest Service is implementing the project in cooperation with Weber County, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation.
