Timpooneke Trailhead

Timed entry permits run July - October.

Timpooneke Trailhead is located along the Alpine Scenic Loop. The area provides outstanding recreation opportunities and majestic views. The Timpooneke Trailhead is the gateway to many opportunities including the Timpooneke Trail leading to the Mount Timpanogos Summit. Scout Falls, Emerald Lake Shelter, Aspen Grove trail loop can be accessed from the trailhead.

General Information

NO FIRES are allowed in the Timpanogos Wilderness.

Timed entry permits begin July 12, 2025. Permits + your recreation pass are required on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays (July 24, and Labor Day) from midnight 12:00am-12:00pm. Learn more>>

Day Use:
$10 per vehicle per three day
$20 per vehicle per seven day
$60 per vehicle per season

We honor all Interagency "America the Beautiful" National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Passes, and Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Passes.
Please have your pass on display in your vehicle while parked.

Dogs must be leashed at all times due to a rise in harassment of wildlife incidents.
Pack out and your pet's waste and dispose of it appropriately.

Directions

From Salt Lake City, Utah, take Interstate 15 to the Alpine-Highland exit (exit 284) and go east on Highway 92 for 12 miles to the junction of Highway 92 and the North Fork/ SR-144. Keep going straight east on SR-92, up the South Fork for approximately 2.5 miles. on the Alpine Scenic Loop to the stop sign, turn right into Timpooneke Campground and continue for approximately .5 mile to the trailhead.

Parking

Park only in designated parking stalls or designated numbered turnouts along SR-92. Do not park in no-parking zones, ticketing and towing is strongly enforced. Do not block gates, or flow of traffic along the Alpine Scenic Loop.

You may need to park as far away as Pine Hollow, Salamander Flat adding additional 1.5 to 2 miles one way to your hike.
