County of Los Angeles - Mill Creek Highway Maintenance Yard - Replacement of Crew Barracks
LA County Dept. of Public Works proposes to rebuild a crew barracks building that was damaged in the Station Fire. The new building will occupy the same footprint as the damaged one, and is within the permit area of the existing facility. All ground disturbance and staging will be within the asphalt surface area that is currently under permit. The project will maintain use and functionality of a highway maintenance yard under permit to LA County. By rebuilding in the same footprint and permit area as the damaged buildiing, the project is consistent with Goal 7.1 in the Land Management Plan, to focus the built environment into the minimum land area necessary to accomodate public needs. Program strategies from Part 2 of the LMP, for protection of plant, wildlife, and watershed values, will be made a part of the project through interdisciplinary review. The building design and materials will be consistent with LMP Standards (Part 3) for scenic integrity.
