Los Angeles County - Mullally Debris Basin - Expansion of Relief Drain
The Los Angeles River Ranger District, Angeles National Forest, is seeking comment on an LA County proposal to expand the relief drain at the Mullally Canyon Debris Basin. An existing headwall and inlet will be removed and rebuilt, and approximately 15' of trench will be placed wtihin an existing gravel road. The Debris Basin has insufficient capacity for major storm events. The enlarged relief drain diameter, 60" to 84", will require 8' of head wall to be rebuilt above the drain inlet. One oak tree will be removed. Approximately 15' of underground storm drain will be replaced on National Forest lands, the remainder of the two mile drain is on private property. Approximately 0.25 acres will be disturbed, all within the footprint of existing facilities. See the links for a photo and a diagram. The comment period will end August 20, 2012. Please see the attached copy of a Legal Notice for detailed instructions on submitting comments.
