Heroes Project Icehouse Canyon Lodge
The Heroes Project (THP) is a 501 c3 non-profit corporation with a mission of providing outdoor adventures to disabled military veterans. THP proposes constructing 5 buildings: store/shop, storage building, and cabins for office space, and lodging. Two of the 5 buildings will repurpose abandoned rock masonry structures and make them usable. Existing water tank, pipelines, and spring box that serve nearby private cabins will be upgraded. The site was a lodge and resort until destroyed by fire in the 1980's. It is adjacent to the Icehouse Canyon Trailhead, a very popular Forest Service recreation facility. The trails at Icehouse provide access into the Cucamonga Wilderness. The store will provide public information on recreational opportunities, and sell maps, parking passes, and basic outdoor supplies. THP will provide outfitting and guiding services to the general public. The facilities will also serve as a base for THP's veterans programs and allow participants to stay overnight.
