Deacon Lee Trailhead
Access this trailhead from Highway 93 west of Carter Meadows Summit by following Forest Highway 39 up Grasshopper Ridge to Forest Road 39N58, or from Forest Highway 1C01 east of Sawyers Bar, up Whites Gulch on Forest Road 40N61 to Forest Highway 39.
The Deacon Lee Trail (#5436) goes north then east into the Russian Wilderness by Waterdog Lake. Then you can head south on Trail #5519 to the Pacific Crest Trail, or north on Trail #5453 paralleling the PCT to the South Russian Trailhead.
General Information
Check the current fire restrictions and obtain a Calfornia Campfire Permit. No wilderness permit is required in the Russian Wilderness.
