Garden Gulch Trailhead (MMW)
A trailhead up Forest Road 40N51 from Highway 1C01 between Sawyers Bar and Forks of Salmon. The trailhead is past the Little North Fork Trailhead, and leads in to the Marble Mountain Wilderness from the south.
The trailhead is located on Trail #5428, which begins on Highway 1C01. From the trailhead the trail goes northwest over Yellow Jacket Ridge, past Chimney Rock and swings around to the east near Smith Cabin. A loop can be made back to the trailhead by taking trail #5420 up Devil's Canyon where the trails meet in the area of the upper Little North Fork.
Additional trails join or are crossed by Trail #5428 including Trail #5417 toward Crapo Meadows, Trail # 5430 toward Dollar Meadows, Trail #5431 toward Smith Cabin, Trail #5416 past Chimney Rock, Trail# 5413 to Clear Lake, Trail #5405 toward Tom Taylor Cabin and English Peak, as well as others.
General Information
Check the current fire restrictions and obtain a Calfornia Campfire Permit. No wilderness permit is required in the Marble Mountain Wilderness.
