Just for Kids
In order to connect kids with nature, the Forest Service offers youth-oriented information, education, and resources on natural resources and the environment to students, parents, and teachers. We want more kids to spend time outdoors, learn about nature, and have fun.
In the future, we need adults who know how to make wise environmental decisions and have an understanding of the natural world. Kids today must spend time outside playing and learning if they are to become those adults. The role of parents, teachers, and youth leaders in providing children and youth with enjoyable and educational outdoor experiences is essential.
There is a whole variety of fascinating interactions between natural processes and human activities in national forests, which serve as the ultimate outdoor classroom.
Through the Forest Service, we want to encourage more kids to go outdoors, be healthy, and learn more about nature. By creating awareness in young people, they may value public lands, pursue careers in natural resources and land management, and take part in outdoor activities with passion. The online resources below will help them in the process.

The Children's Forest event offers kids a chance to explore the Modoc National Forest. It consists of a day spent exploring the forest with experts on topics such as geology, archaeology, firefighting, horsepacking, camping, leave no trace, and hydrology. Teachers and parents work with a variety of partners, including volunteers, the Modoc National Forest, the Modoc National Wildlife Refuge, and the BLM. This program was funded by the Modoc County Resource Committee, which is administered by the Forest Service.
