Pepperdine Trailhead

Located on the northern most boundary of the South Warner Wilderness, Pepperdine Trailhead serves hikers and horsemen for short day trips and overnight excursions into and through the wilderness via the Summit Trail.  The Summit Trail also connects with Owl Creek Trail which takes one along the eastern slopes of the Warners where Summit Trail stays mostly along the western slopes.

General Information

Facilities open as weather permits; usually early July to late October.

When parking overnight or for extended periods at trailheads always secure all food, packaging and ice chests in the trunk of your vehicle.  Do not park in front of gates or partially obstruct a fire road.  Parking is limited for hikers and backpackers.  Do not park in any of the numbered campsites to avoid citations and fees.

Directions

From Alturas, head east 13 miles on County Road 56 to the Modoc National Forest Boundary. The number changes to Forest Service Road 31/ Parker Creek Road. Continue 6 miles on Road 31 to the campground entrance road on the right. The trailhead is at the campground.
