Merals Pool Put-In
The Main Tuolumne is a challenging and enjoyable Class 4+, 18-mile whitewater run through the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. This section has some demanding rapids spaced at close intervals. At above 4,000 cubic feet per second (CFS). The river becomes more powerful and recovery more difficult. The biggest rapid, the Clavey, can be walked around or portaged. Camping is available at several sites along the way. Reservoir release summer flows generally arrive at Merals Pool launch mid-morning and drop to less than 300cfs after noon. A three-day trip allows boaters to enjoy the canyon and its tributaries.

South Fork Road Shuttle Request Form
This shuttle request is only for equipment transport from Buck Meadows to Merals Pool river access.
The Tuolumne River private outfitters are committed to providing equipment shuttles for the public when convenient and possible. Shuttles are not the main bulk of an outfitter’s business, nor is it their priority, so it is extremely important paddlers follow instructions to arrive on time and plan logistics well in advance. Commercial passengers should arrive early and be ready to go.
The South Fork Road Shuttle Request Form goes to all four outfitters. They reach out only if they can provide a shuttle up or down South Fork Road. Specific instructions are provided by the outfitter to include meeting time, location, payment, and waivers.
During the height of the summer, ten (10) or more days lead time is required for an outfitter to logistically include shuttle requests into their schedules.
2025 Season Shuttle Fees:
$25/kayak + $25 reservation fee for up to three (3) each small craft added to an existing river trip.
$600 for a one-way (private) dedicated vehicle.
NOTE: Outfitters are fitting shuttle requests into pre-planned schedules, so promptness is mandatory. Those who do not meet the scheduled time for ANY reason - including, but not limited to; flat tires, obtaining gas, delays setting shuttle, and delays inflating rafts - forfeit any and all prepaid fees.

Directions
From Groveland travel 7.5 miles east to Ferretti Road. Turn left (north) onto Ferretti Road. Travel 1 mile and turn right (east) onto Lumsden Road/Forest Route 1N10 off of Ferretti Road. Travel approximately 4.5 miles. A high clearance vehicle is advised.
