Climbing and Caving
While there are no officially designated climbing locations on the Stanislaus National Forest, the granite walls in the higher elevation offer a perfect location for climbing without crowds typical to Yosemite. Popular locations include Column of the Giants, Gianelli Trailhead, Chipmunk Flat, and Donnell Vista. Always check local regulations and permit requirements before climbing in any national forest.
