Sandy Flat Campground
Sandy Flat Campground offers 9 single sites and 1 triple site, Granite Gulch sites 10, 11 & 12. Utica Reservoir is set in a granite basin surrounded by red fir and lodgepole pine forest. The reservoir has lots of islands and is kept mostly full. Granite slabs along the shore extend into the water. Elevation is 6,800 feet.

The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
The campground operates from late spring through fall, with dates varying based on snow conditions and road access.
Check in: 2:00 p.m.; Check-out: 12:00 p.m.; Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

Overnight use: 50% discount for single site camping with any of these passes only: Interagency Senior, Interagency Access, Golden Age, or Golden Access. Applies to fee for site occupied by the pass holder. Pass number must be written on fee envelope.

Reservations will be required for Sandy Flat and Granite Gulch (triple site) June 15th - September 7th. Reservations can be made on https://www.recreation.gov/ The Forest Service operates the Sandy Flat Campground and charges the following fees: Campsite fee price is $30 per night for single campsites.

Directions
From Highway 4, turn onto Spicer Reservoir Road (paved) and go 8 miles. Turn left onto 7N75; from there the roads are gravel. Continue 0.7 miles to a T-intersection. Turn left and continue one mile.
Spicer Reservoir Road is 27 miles east of the Calaveras Ranger Station in Hathaway Pines, California.
Parking
Campsites have their own parking spur. There are two day-use parking areas, one across the road from Sandy Flat Campground and another adjacent to nearby Rocky Point Campground.

Potable water is available by a spigot supplied from a well, on a seasonal basis (located at the intersection of 7N75 & 7N17).

There are two dirt ramps, designed for non-motorized boats. One is in Sandy Flat Campground, the other is just past the adjacent Rocky Point Campground.
