Bear Valley to Lake Alpine Trail
This trail runs between the east end of Lake Alpine and the community of Bear Valley. Along the lakeshore, the trail is paved and wheelchair accessible. West of the lake, the trail reverts to native surface as it meanders through the forest, hooking up with a portion of the historic Emigrant-West pioneer route. The trail is open to hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians.

In the winter, the trail serves as a route for snowmobiles to travel from Bear Valley to the Lake Alpine SNO-PARK.

Getting There
Directions
From the Calaveras Ranger Station in Hathaway Pines, California, turn right (east) on Highway 4 and travel 30 miles. Turn left on Bear Valley Road into the Bear Valley Village complex, then right onto Creekside Drive.
There are several places to access the trail:
Bear Valley Village along Creekside Drive (see map on this page), the Emigrant Trail - West Trailhead, Silvertip Campground, Marmot Day Use/Picnic Area, Lake Alpine Campground, Lake Alpine Boat Launch parking lot, Chickaree Day Use/ Picnic Area, and Pine Marten Campground.
