Central Oregon Fire Management Service - Who We Are

The Central Oregon Fire Management Service (COFMS) is an interagency federal wildland fire partnership dedicated to managing wildland fire across Central Oregon. Our team brings together fire leadership, resources and expertise from the Deschutes National Forest, Ochoco National Forest and Crooked River National Grassland, and the Prineville District of the Bureau of Land Management.

Our Mission
To protect communities, infrastructure, natural resources, and public lands for future generations by managing fire safely, effectively, and collaboratively. We work year-round to reduce wildfire risk, protect, and improve public lands (i.e., forest and rangeland health), and respond quickly when wildfire occurs.

What We Do

  • Wildfire Response: Coordinate firefighting crews, aircraft, equipment, and incident response resources to protect lives and property
  • Prescribed Fire/Hazardous Fuels Reduction: Use planned prescribed burns and fuels treatments to reduce hazardous fuels and restore healthy ecosystems
  • Collaboration: Partner across agencies and with local communities/emergency management organizations to share resources and expertise

COFMS is committed to proactive fire management and strong partnerships to keep Central Oregon’s landscapes and communities safe.
