Forest Road 8303
This paved road provides access to Trail of Two Forest Interpretive Site, and the extremely popular Ape Cave. See Mount St. Helens Map.
Current Conditions
11/26/2024: Recent snowfall has impacted the area with heavy snow and ice. Snow depths range from a few inches to at least two feet. Travel on this road is recommended for high clearance 4x4 vehicles only at this time.
General Information
- Ape Cave Interpretive Site: $5/vehicle/day or valid Recreation Pass. See Mount St. Helens Map for fee and payment sites. Timed entry tickets are required and purchased in advance on Recreation.gov.
- Trail of Two Forests Interpretive Site: April 1 to Nov. 30: $5/vehicle/day or valid Recreation Pass. Dec. 1 to March 31: Washington State Sno-Park Permit is required and not available on-site. Purchase online or from a vendor prior to arrival.
