Excelsior Pass Trailhead

This is a small trailhead with room for about 6 cars located right off of Highway 542. It provides access to the High Divide Trail 630 which enters Mt. Baker Wilderness

General Information

Due to its location next to the state highway, this is one of the few trailheads accessed from the Mt. Baker Highway that is accessible in a vehicle year round.

Open 24 hours/day

Wilderness regulations apply within Mt. Baker Wilderness.

Recreation Passes honored for fee payment: Digital Passes, Northwest Forest Pass, and Interagency Recreation Passes. 

Day Use:
$5 per vehicle per day
$30 per annual

Day use fee payment options: Scan & Pay on-site or display a valid Recreation Pass.  

*Suggestion: Download the recreation.gov app before your trip to have the ability to scan & pay digitally on-site.

From the Glacier Public Service Center in Glacier, Washington, travel east on the Mt. Baker Highway SR 542 approximately 7.5 miles. The trailhead is next to highway on the left hand (north) side.
