Forest Service Solicits Salt Springs Campground Concessionaire

TALLAHASSEE, March 14, 2025 — The National Forests in Florida is soliciting concession campground Special Use Permit (SUP) applicants to provide high-quality public services in the operation and maintenance of government-owned facilities located on the Ocala National Forest in Florida. Forest Supervisor Ivan Green announced the concessionaire opportunity today.

One (1) SUP will be issued for one (1) developed recreation site located on the Lake George Ranger District of the Ocala National Forest for:

  • The Salt Springs Recreation Area (including the Campground and Day Use Area).

The new SUP will replace the existing expiring concession permit. All prospective applicants interested in this solicitation are encouraged to reply. The Forest Service expects to issue the SUP by Fall of 2025, with the intention of the successful applicant beginning operations by January 2026.

All prospective applicants are advised to read the prospectus carefully. Applicants must submit one (1) hard copy and one (1) electronic copy on a flash drive with the applications package and supporting documents required under sections IV Application to the following address:

Submitted packages must include a business plan to be reviewed by a Small Business Development Center. Applications must be received by close of business (4:30 p.m. ET) on May 15, 2025.

A site visit is tentatively scheduled for April 30, 2025. Interested parties must RSVP to Danela Head, Lands and Special Uses Program Manager, at danela.head@usda.gov by March 31, 2025.

Applicants must submit the required processing fee with each proposal submitted. The selected applicant will be required to undergo a Financial Ability Determination (FAD), unless the Forest Service has conducted a FAD for the applicant within the past year and no changes are necessary to bring it up to date.
