Monongahela National Forest Accepting Recreation Concessionaire Proposals

ELKINS, W.Va., August 19, 2025—The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service is accepting proposals for a recreation facilities concessionaire through a special-use authorization in the Monongahela National Forest.

The special-use authorization permits the management of three family campgrounds (Lake Sherwood, Blue Bend, and Pocahontas) One group campground (Blue Meadow), one rental cabin (Hopkins Mountain Fireman's Patrol Cabin) and two-day use areas (Lake Sherwood Recreation Area and Blue Bend Recreation area, and 1 large picnic shelter only) located on the Marlinton-White Sulphur Ranger District. Details about special-use permits, the concession program and policies, and the application process can be found in the prospectus at the sam.gov website.

Applicants must submit a hard and electronic copy of their application package. Applications and fees must be received by 4:30 p.m. EST on Friday, October 17, 2025. If a permit is issued, operations are expected to begin by spring 2026.
