Our first concern is pubilic safety for recreationists using Capulin Snow Play Area. Please use plastic sleds or tubes only and note that there is a $10.00 cash or check only amenity fee. Here are some tips that will help make your visit enjoyable:

Snow Play Area Rules

  • Slide on approved devices only!
    • ALLOWED: Inner Tubes, Plastic Discs & Sleds
    • NOT ALLOWED: Anything With Metal or Wood
  • Slide On The 3 Developed Slopes ONLY

For Your Safety

  • 2 PERSON MAXIMUM - per tube/toy
  • NO TRAINS
  • NO JUMPS - Do Not Make Or Use Jumps
  • LOOK BEFORE YOU SLIDE - Ensure Others Are Clear
  • BE CONSIDERATE Of Others
  • NO GLASS CONTAINERS On Slopes
  • NO ALCOHOL Allowed In Area
  • KEEP PETS ON LEASH And Under Control

Warning to All Sledders

  • Sledding can be dangerous and may result in injury or death
  • Terrain is naturally uneven and may include dips and bumps
  • Sledding hills are completely unsupervised and ungroomed
  • Use caution at all times to avoid other people and objects
  • Weather can negatively affect sledding conditions
  • Do not loiter at the bottom of the hill
  • No sledding when gates are closed
  • Supervise children at all times

Fees: Requires a fee or an amenity pass. If you do not have a pass, you may purchase one online, or look for the Pay Station on site. Envelopes for payment are in the box next to the fee tube. CASH OR CHECK ONLY at pay station. The fee for 15+ passenger, vans and buses is $10 per vehicle.  If you have a current America the Beautiful Interagency Annual, Access, Senior, Military or Every Kid Outdoors pass, please display it on your dashboard or hang it on your rearview mirror as directed at purchase. To purchase an America the Beautiful Interagency or Sandia Annual Pass see the “Passes" information below.

Directions:

From I-40 and Exit 175, drive toward Cedar Crest on N-14. Follow N-14 aka the Turquoise Trail, for approximately 6.5 miles, to NM 536 aka the Sandia Crest Scenic Byway. Turn onto NM 536. Capulin Snow Play site is approximately 8 miles up NM 536, about 1.5 miles past the base of the Sandia Peak Ski area. The entrance is on your right.

If the gate is locked, the site is closed. Thank you.
