Shallow Creek Trail # 897
The Shallow Creek Trail (#897) is 2.3 miles long, beginning at the end of Forest Road #508, west of a parking area with a few scattered camping sites.
The trail begins as an old road and immediately crosses Shallow Creek, which has opportunities for fishing. After several side creek crossings, the trail enters an open grassy meadow, soon diverges from Shallow Creek, and climbs a few switchbacks leading to beautiful aspen groves.
After passing through the shaded forest, the trail continues along a rocky slope, at 2 miles, there is a trail junction, to continue on Shallow Creek Trail, continue on the trail heading west. The trail ends at a hilltop yurt (this is private property and not open to public use), near the remains of several buildings and with views into the Shallow Creek drainage.
