Associated Work

Along with actual tree planting, the contract or force account planting crew may be required to wrap trees, install animal damage control netting or artificial shade, or perform other related work. The contract shall state how the work will be inspected and how quality will be determined and understood by all parties before work begins.

The associated work may be inspected along with the planting or it may be inspected as a separate contract item. If the contract calls for the associated work to be inspected with the planting, no formal planting plot inspection can occur until the work is complete. This will generally delay the determination of planting quality. If inspection of planting quality is delayed, the importance of good inspection while planting is in progress rises significantly.
