The Fairfax Bridge on State Highway 165 across the Carbon River has been permanently closed by Washington Department of Transportation (DOT) due to safety concerns.

Mountain Loop Highway and Mt. Pilchuck Rd Closed for Winter!
A 14-mile section of the Mountain Loop Highway is closed to vehicles due to snow and road conditions between the Deer Creek and Bedal gates.

Road to Artist Point Closed for the Season
SR542 is open to the winter closure location at Bagley Lakes Trailhead/upper Ski Area Parking lot. The final 2.7 miles of Mt. Baker Highway, referred to as the road to Artist Point is closed for winter effective 8 a.m. on Oct. 16, 2024.

Vault toilets at many locations now closed for the season.
Due to snow levels forecast at and below 5000’ for Wednesday, October 16, the vault toilets at Artist Point, Austin Pass Picnic Area, and Heather Meadows Visitor Center will be closed and locked for the season, and all garbage cans and signage will be removed from these locations. Pleas

Middle Fork Camping Closure
A dispersed camping closure along part of Forest Road 56 and Forest Road 5640 went into effect June 1st. Attached is the closure order and map. The decision to close dispersed camping stems from the 2017 Wild and Scenic River designation of the Middle Fork River.

Entire Forest Under Food Storage Order
The Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest has a food storage order in effect across the entire Forest. This order requires visitors to the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest (MBSNF) to store food items in a “bear resistant manner” and to properly dispose of wildlife attractants.
