Check Road Closures Before You Go

Recent floods have effected the forest and below are the updates.

Parts of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest sustained damages from storm events in July 2016 and June 2018.

These storms brought heavy rains that caused flash-flooding damaging roads and trails on the Great Divide and Washburn Ranger Districts in Ashland, Bayfield and Sawyer counties.

With both of these events, the Forest has been working with the U.S. Department of Federal Highway Administration’s Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division to complete damage survey reports, negotiate repairs and complete permanent repairs.

Construction on the permanent repairs from the 2016 flood event have wrapped up for the season. Construction will resume next spring.
