Grey Towers mansion reopening
PENNSYLVANIA—Grey Towers National Historic Site plans to reopen the front doors of the beautiful and historic Grey Towers Mansion to the public starting the week of June 6, 2022. Grey Towers is the ancestral home of the first Chief of the Forest Service, Gifford Pinchot.
Spanning 103 beautifully landscaped acres, Grey Towers attracts visitors from all over the world and serves as the only National Historic Site managed by the Forest Service. The site hosts interpretive tours teaching the history of the Pinchot family, the local Milford, Pennsylvania, community and the history of the Forest Service.
Leadership development courses and conferences are also hosted at the site as well as myriad other events, including conservation education seminars, cultural heritage festivals, policy analysis, recreation, and scientific research. All interior activities at the mansion halted during the COVID-19 pandemic, but outdoor interpretive services continued as well as the iconic ice cream social celebrating National Public Lands Day.
The beautiful grounds are accessible year-round but the hallmark of the property, the Grey Towers Mansion, is once again open for visitors to enjoy. Volunteer activities, partner meetings and small conferences are available again June 6 and traditional public tours are scheduled to begin on the weekends starting June 12, 2022.
