Need to recruit new employees? Try the Workforce Recruitment Program
NEW MEXICO—The workforce of today faces many changes and many subsequent challenges for hiring managers in both the private sector and the federal workforce. Finding good candidates to fill key roles can sometimes feel like finding a needle in a haystack, but federal hiring managers now have a tool to help: the Workforce Recruitment Program.
The Workforce Recruitment Program is a free employment resource that helps hiring managers and persons with disabilities connect. Users can search the database for candidates with the specific skills they need to fill federal positions paid for by their agencies.
Candidates in the database are students and recent graduates with disabilities who are available for internships or temporary or permanent employment in the federal government. Candidates represent a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds. All candidates are eligible for federal hiring under the Schedule A hiring authority.
Hiring authorities such as the Workforce Recruitment Program, as well as Schedule A, Veterans Recruitment Appointment, Veterans Employment Opportunity Act and 30% veteran are tools within our new Veterans & Persons with Disabilities Program under the National Talent Acquisition Team. This program was set up to help hiring managers understand these special hiring authorities. Our agency’s special placement coordinators, program manager Shawn Tillman and HRM specialist Jason Gaffney, lead the program and encourage hiring managers to use these authorities when hiring internally or externally. The Workforce Recruitment Program not only helps connect candidates with jobs, it also helps hiring managers find qualified applicants.
