USDA: Feds Feed Families totals and thank you

October 14, 2022

USDA seal (new 2022)

Dear Colleagues,

Through your acts and deeds, you demonstrate a deep commitment to tackling food and nutrition insecurity across the country. This enthusiasm for helping others has been on full display during our 2022 Feds Feed Families program, which encourages all federal employees to donate food, service and time to food banks across the United States.

This year’s theme was “Fighting Hunger, Giving Hope.” And you did just that.

Thank you for stepping up to supplement the services provided by food networks during the summer months when demands for food are high and donations are traditionally low.

In its 13th year, the Feds Feed Families program has exceeded prior year contributions thanks to your generosity. This year, the program has amassed more than 7.7 million pounds of food. USDA was directly responsible for 382,800 pounds, the third highest total by federal department.

Our heartfelt gratitude also goes out to all who were a part of orchestrating this year’s summer campaign. Undoubtedly, your creativity and innovation has inspired so much of the success of the Feds Feed Families’ events to include the inaugural FedsWISH Walk, which supported the goals of the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health to end hunger and improve health. Your efforts played a vital role in increasing enthusiasm for the program locally and nationally.

USDA leadership has been moved by your collective efforts, dedication and passion to help those in need.

While the summer campaign has come to an end, your ongoing donations continue to help those in need. Please continue to donate to your local food banks and food pantries and record your donation on the Feds Feed Families Hub throughout the year. During the CFC campaign, monetary donations to food banks and food pantries made through CFC may also be recorded on the hub.

Thank you for all you do. These past few years have been challenging for so many Americans. It is heartening to know that our USDA team continues to step-up in extraordinary ways. Your donations of time, money, and resources, impact your neighbors and communities in ways you may never know, but you still help others because you care. Congratulations on another successful Feds Feed Families Campaign.

With much appreciation,
Secretary Thomas J. Vilsack
Deputy Secretary Jewel Bronaugh
