Let's talk about it: Everything You Wanted to Know About Indians But Were Afraid to Ask book discussion
What have you always wanted to know about Indians? Do you think you should already know the answers—or suspect that your questions may be offensive?
Join the Office of Civil Rights and the American Indian and Alaska Native employee resource group Nov. 30 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. (EST) to talk about the book Everything You Wanted to Know About Indians But Were Afraid to Ask* (2012) by Anton Treuer. In matter-of-fact responses, Ojibwe scholar Treur gives a frank, funny and sometimes personal tour of what’s up with Indians anyway.
During the one-hour discussion we’ll talk about many of the topics and questions poised in the book including:
- What is the real story of Thanksgiving?
- Why are Tribal languages Important?
- Why should Indians have reservations?
All employees are welcome to participate in this discussion—you do not need to read the book to participate in this event. Employees interested in reading the book will need to provide their own book and read on their own personal time.
