Associate Chief Coleman to speak at Kennedy Center event

March 10, 2023

WASHINGTON, DC—On March 21, Associate Chief Angela Coleman will speak at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., as part of an event including a free screening of the film “Legacy,” which was shot partially on the Tahoe National Forest. The film, by Joe Flannery, then public affairs officer on the Tahoe National Forest, chronicles Chinese Railroad Workers’ contribution to the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. It features Forest Service staff as well as members of the 1882 Project Foundation and Chinese Historical Society of America.

A second film, “Tracing History,” which was sponsored by the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, will have a first look screening at the event as well. The program is part of the Kennedy Center's Social Impact series, featuring events and programs to build community and drive meaningful change. The event will be held in the Justice Forum at the REACH, the center's extended space that opened in 2019.
