Learn about the Plant-A-Tree website update

WASHINGTON, DC—Since 1983, the Forest Service’s Plant-A-Tree program has allowed individuals to make donations to be used for reforestation projects across the National Forest System. The Washington Office Forest Management staff is pleased to announce that this program will now better serve the public by allowing for donations to be made securely online.
The new online donation platform offers many benefits compared to the previous process which only accepted checks in person or by mail and required staff time to create personalized recognition certificates. The new site will reduce the agency’s workload, standardize certificates, allow for better tracking and reporting, and provide an easier, more secure experience for the public.
We invite Forest Service employees to join Forest Management for a webinar on May 24 at 2 p.m. ET that will include an overview of the Plant-A-Tree program, donation dos and don'ts, and a demonstration of the website, certificates and gift acceptance letter. The new website will not be made public until after the webinar.
We also want to hear from you:
- What materials do you need to successfully implement the program?
- What stories do you have about the Plant-A-Tree program?
- Do you have any other feedback about the Plant-A-Tree donation program?
The webinar is intended for Forest Service employees who are in public-facing, front desk, visitor center, communications, reforestation, collection officer, or other positions who might be asked how to donate to the Forest Service or about the Plant-A-Tree donation program.
