Activate Forest Mode: National Forest Week 2023

For the fifth year, the National Forest Foundation is inviting the USDA Forest Service and all Americans to celebrate national forests and grasslands. Held during the second full week of July, this year’s messaging will focus on a theme of “Forest Mode.”

When I activate Forest Mode, the day-to-day worries drift away, and all I need to focus on is the surrounding beauty of these natural spaces. I look forward to connecting with individuals from across the country about what Forest Mode means to them.

From July 10-16, we’ll once again receive submissions in our National Forest Week photo contest and share content to inspire Americans to learn more about their public lands and the National Forest System. I’m excited to share we’ll be hosting in-person gatherings with our partner Filson at their flagship stores in New York City and Seattle—we’d love to see you there!

As we get closer to National Forest Week, be sure to check nationalforestweek.org for additional information and resources.

We invite all units and Forest Service staff to share National Forest Week messaging across social media channels. We are grateful for your continued efforts to steward these lands and engage with Americans around these places. We look forward to hearing your stories and learning about your unique experiences. While national forests are worthy of celebration all year, we are excited to shine a light on these special places during National Forest Week.

Ways to get involved:

  • Share messaging prior to and during National Forest Week and use the hashtag #NationalForestWeek on social media
  • Submit your photo and help promote the photo contest throughout your network

Thank you for all that you do for our public lands today and their future.
