Feds Feed Families: Gleaning, admin time

Hello, Forest Service FFF Champions!
Thank you for stepping up to Fight Hunger and Give Hope. The Feds Feed Families campaign continue to address the issue of food insecurity by providing federal employees an opportunity to unite and give in-kind donations – food, service, and time – to food pantries and food banks of choice.
All employees are encouraged to participate:
Become a FFF Champion
Donate to a food bank or food pantry of your choice
Host or an already planned event
Volunteer to glean at a farm or warehouse or Plant-a-Row
----> Participate and record your donation and volunteer time on the FFF Hub year-round
The current theme for the FFF summer campaign is gleaning. Attached are two flyers you can use to help promote gleaning events or share with colleagues interested in sponsoring one. Also attached you will also find a memo from USDA that encourages FFF gleaning activities by authorizing the use of admin leave for gleaning! Feds Feed Families gleaning activities are sanctioned by the Head of the agency and would be appropriate for agencies to grant up to 2 hours of administrative leave for employee participation. Employees who would like to participate in gleaning activities may submit a request for leave in advance and be granted up to 2 hours of administrative leave to participate in each local event (maximum 2 events per year), with supervisory approval and if the employee can be relieved from duty based on mission needs. Leave may only be charged during an employee’s scheduled tour of duty.
