The Forest Service welcomed its newest law enforcement officers in a graduation ceremony on Oct. 7 at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia, after completing a rigorous 17-week land management police training program.

The training covers law and policy, firearms, use of force, control tactics and patrol skills, preparing officers to enforce laws and protect national forest lands and resources.

“I was honored to virtually attend the graduation ceremony for our newest class of law enforcement officers,” said Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz. “These dedicated professionals stand on the front lines each day, safeguarding lives and protecting our shared resources—their courage and commitment are unmatched. I have every confidence they will uphold our proud traditions as champions of public safety, stewards of natural resource protection and trusted partners to fellow law enforcement agencies.”

Law enforcement plays a vital role in the effective management of National Forest System lands. Together, Law Enforcement and Investigations personnel, line officers and support staff ensure that prevention, investigation, enforcement and program oversight are seamlessly integrated into all aspects of resource management.

The new officers will fill ranks throughout the agency and serve as full partners within the Forest Service, advancing the agency’s mission by upholding federal laws and regulations that safeguard natural resources, protect employees, and ensure public safety. The success of Forest Service law enforcement is built on a foundation of trust, cooperation and collaboration across the organization.
