Tribal Relations

The Siuslaw National Forest recognizes that the lands that are managed by the Forest Service are lands Tribal peoples have lived and depended upon since time immemorial. Our Tribal partners maintain a longstanding connection to, and knowledge of the landscapes administered by the Siuslaw National Forest. We aim to meaningfully engage and co-steward with Tribes to learn and care for the natural and cultural resources we all depend upon. 

Tribal Partnerships

Based on their ancestral ties to the forest, the Siuslaw National Forest maintains special relationships with the following tribes.

• Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde
• Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians
• Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians

Working Together

Increasing opportunities for and input from Tribes benefit Forest Service programs and the public. Working with Tribal partners, the Siuslaw National Forest has had success in a number of watershed restoration and habitat management projects.
