SOPA Reports

The Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) contains a list of proposed actions for White River National Forest that will soon begin or are currently undergoing environmental analysis and documentation. It provides information so that you can become aware of and indicate your interest in specific proposals. We encourage your early and ongoing involvement in any proposals of interest to you.

White River National Forest Projects

Upgrade Chair 15 to detachable quad. Upgrade Chair 21 to detachable 6-person lift. Re-align Mile Bypass road. Remove unused summer infrastructure at Eagle's Nest. Remove lift #24, and grading between Two Elk Restaurant and the top of Chair 21

Project modification of the 2011 EA and DN-FONSI adding mastication as treatment method on approximately 7,454 acres of previously analyzed prescribed fire treatment areas within Colorado Roadless areas.

The proposed action will create an economical gravel source used to maintain the road surface of Coffee Pot Road (NFSR 600) and other roads and facilities in the area. Formerly used gravel pits, Boom Boom #1 and #2 , would be reestablished/expanded.

Breckenridge Stables proposes the replacement of temporary mobile buildings with a permanent operations building and a permanent guest services building. Water and power utilities are planned to provide indoor toilets and options for food services.

Replacing and consolidating the existing Green-Wilson Hut, outhouse, and woodshed on NFS lands managed by the WRNF. The new structure would be built on the existing concrete foundation, with minor repairs and a slight expansion

Holy Cross Electric Association, Inc.,(HCE) proposes to construct a new 115-kV transmission line between the existing Gilman and Avon Substations. The proposed route is 8.9 miles and would cross approximately 3.4 miles of National Forest System Lands

Restricting human use within Jones Gulch annually from November 1st - April 30th to prevent disturbance of important winter habitat for Canada Lynx.

Keystone Resort is proposing replacement of the A-51 lift with a new high-speed detachable quad. Associated grading for a new top and bottom terminal area will enable better skier circulation, lift maze and milling space with the higher capacity lift

Vegetation management activities are proposed across the project area to create or maintain multiple age classes within the spruce-fir cover type. Reduce fuel loading and ladder fuels within 200 feet either side of FSR 1831-an identified POD boundary

Construction of 1.7 miles of new, sustainable trail. Restoration and decommissioning of 1 mile of existing trail that is unsustainable and causing resource damage.

Aspen Skiing Company is proposing to remove two chairlifts (Little Nell Chairlift, on private property and Bell Mountain Chairlift, partially on USFS property) and replace with one chairlift at Aspen Mountain.

Chairlift replacements for "Elk Camp Chairlift" & "Alpine Springs Chairlift", Deck Expansion at "Elk Camp Restaurant", Challenge Course Installation near "Elk Camp", "Ullrhof Restaurant" Replacement and Associated Utilities for all sites.

Recreation management and access improvements are proposed to the southern portion of the Tenmile Mountain Range in Summit County, CO. Proposed actions include recreation infrastructure improvements and trailhead access improvements.

Manage mountain shrub and aspen communities with vegetation management techniques including mechanical treatment, prescribed fire, hand treatments, seeding/planting, and rehabilitation on up to 14,121 acres over a period of 15-20 years

Forest Plan Amendment to create Special Interest Management Area for newly acquired properties and surrounding National Forest Lands surrounding Sweetwater Lake, allowing for the appropriate, consistent, sustainable, and holistic management.

A proposal to approve a Plan of Operations for mining-related activities that would be conducted on National Forest System lands administered by the Dillon Ranger District of the White River National Forest.

The Forest Service is proposing approximately 1,250 acres of fuels reduction activities and approximately 25 miles of trails decommission, improvement, and construction activities near the Town of Frisco.

Authorization for the installation and operation of a new buried 8-inch produced water pipeline, a new 6-inch produced water pipeline, and two co-located, up to 8-inch diameter low pressure natural gas pipelines in the West Mamm Creek area.

Rocky Mountain Natural Gas, LLC (RMNG) is requesting approval from the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to replace an aging 3-inch natural gas pipeline with a new 10-inch natural gas pipeline in the Wolf Creek Storage Field in Pitkin County, CO.
