Grand River National Grassland

The Grand River National Grassland is in northwestern South Dakota. It is named for the Grand River, which meets in the grassland at the north and south forks. The land area is 154,783 acres (241.85 square miles). It is located in parts of Perkins, Corson, and Ziebach counties in descending order of acreage. The portion in Corson County is also within the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, and the portion in Ziebach County is also within the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation. The grassland offers opportunities for hunting, fishing, bird and wildlife viewing, sightseeing, camping, picnicking, photography, hiking, horseback riding, and boating

The Forest Service administers the Grand River National Grassland as part of the Dakota Prairie Grasslands from the Supervisor's Office in Bismarck, North Dakota. The local Grand River Ranger District Station is in Lemmon, South Dakota.
