Bottle Pass (#16)

This 1.4-mile (one-way) trail begins at the Lake Evelyn Trailhead. The first mile of trail is an old logging road. A single-track trail emerges on the left before crossing Keyser Creek and is signed for Bottle Pass. The beginning of the trail begins at a moderate grade on a long switchback. Bottle Pass Trail takes off from the Lake Evelyn Trail (#15) after approximately 1 mile. The trail gains elevation as it approaches Bottle Pass. The last half mile is quite steep. Hikers must proceed to the north, up and over Bottle Peak to arrive at Bottle Pass.

General Information

Most of the Bottle Pass Trail is located within the Byers Peak Wilderness. Mechanized/motorized travel is prohibited. Do not camp or build campfires within 100 feet of developed trails or bodies of water. Group size is limited to 12 people and/or livestock. Pets must be under control at all times. Collection of dead and down wood is allowed; do not break branches from standing trees for firewood.

Directions

Follow County Road 3, 0.5 mile east of Pashall on U.S. Highway 40 or take County Road 15, 24 miles south of Kremmling on Highway 9. Follow either to County Road 32 (NFSR 139). Turn east onto County Road 32 and go 5 miles to NFSR 136 on the right. Take NFSR 136 four miles to the Lake Evelyn Trailhead. From Fraser take County Road 73 to NFSR 160.2 to NFSR 111.
