Fire
Our Forests and Grassland encompass over 1.5 million acres on Colorado’s Front Range and has been heavily impacted by wildfire over recent decades.
After years of fire suppression, our forests along the Colorado Front Range are unhealthy and prone to intensely destructive wildfires. Yet, wildland fire is inevitable in North American ecosystems.
Wise use of fire approximates the historical role of fire and enhances long-term wildland values. We use risk-based decision-making processes to determine the most effective wildfire management strategies to promote community, firefighter and property safety while also encouraging healthier forests and wildlife habitat.
