Developed Campgrounds

Developed campgrounds offer amenities. Some sites are reservable, and some have facilities suitable for large groups and equestrians.

Dispersed Camping

Dispersed Camping in an aspen grove on the White River National Forest

Dispersed camping offers free, undeveloped camping. Amenities are not provided, so campers must arrive prepared with drinking water, plans for food storage and human waste, and means to remove all trash.

Motor Vehicle Use Maps show roads where dispersed camping is available.

ALL CAMPERS SHOULD:

  • observe site-specific regulations in areas of high visitation.
  • choose roads and trails suitable for the equipment you plan to use

Dispersed campers should choose a site that is already impacted, no more than 300' from the centerline of the road and at least 100' from any body of water.

Unless otherwise noted, maximum stay is 14 days within a 30-day period, for recreational use only: residential use is not permitted.  After 14 days, campers must relocate outside a 20 mile radius.

Some locations allow dispersed camping at designated sites only, and some have shortened, 7 day stay limits
