The Richfield Ranger District covers the northeast portion of the Fishlake National Forest. The 412,859 acres managed by the district include the Monroe and Cove Mountain Ranges, Cedar Mountain and Old Woman Plateau north of Interstate 70, and an area south of I-70 to the Fremont River Ranger District Boundary. The district lies within three counties: Sanpete, Sevier, and Piute. The district office offers information for visitors, free travel maps and other brochures, firewood permits, Christmas tree permits and a variety of other public services. The Fishlake National Forest and Paiute Trails Committee have partnered up to bring visitors a gift shop at the newly remodeled Supervisors Office and Richfield Ranger District office. Guests can come check out the great selection of Smokey Bear items!
Numerous motorized trails and roads provide riders an opportunity to experience the district, as well as connect with trails to other areas. Additionally, hiking trails, campgrounds, lakes and reservoirs, and streams allow visitors to enjoy a variety of outdoor experiences. The district is home to elk, deer, and black bear, as well as other species of animals. Visitors should keep an eye out as rattlesnakes are found in many areas.
The Richfield Ranger District has active Range, Recreation, and Fire and Fuels Programs, which contribute to the economies of local communities and provide healthy, resilient ecosystems.
