SPECIAL ORDER OF FOREST SUPERVISOR WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FORESTS

Salt Lake Ranger District

 

The following act is established to provide for public safety and to prevent significant water, soil, and vegetation resource damage.

 

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited in the areas described in this order. All areas are located on the Salt Lake Ranger District, Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This order is in effect until further notice.

 

  1. Entering or using a developed site on the Salt Lake Ranger District when such areas are gated and/or posted closed for public safety, rehabilitation, construction, or post recreation season dates.

[36 CFR 261.58 (b)].

 

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:

 

  1. Persons with a permit.
  2. Authorized Federal, state, or local officers, or members of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of official duty, when authorized by the District Ranger.

 

Areas Described:Little Cottonwood Canyon: Albion Basin, and Tanner's Flat Campgrounds. Big Cottonwood Canyon: Birches, Dogwood, Ledgemere, Storm Mountain, Moss Ledge, Spruce's, Jordan Pines, Redman, Silver Lake, and Brighton Picnic Areas. Mill Creek Canyon: Church Fork, Box Elder, Terrace's, Maple Grove, White Bridge, Maple Cove, Evergreen, Fir Crest, Clover Springs, and Big Water Picnic Areas. Davis County: Mueller Park, Fernwood, Sunset, and Bountiful Peak Campgrounds. Tooele County: Cottonwood, Intake, Boy Scout, Lower Narrows, Upper Narrows, Loop, and Medina Flat Campground

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 or imprisonment of not more than 6 months or both.(16USC 551; 18USC 357l(b} (6))

 

This order supercedes any previous order for the above described area and prohibitions.
