Christmas Tree Cutting
Lassen National Forest begins selling Christmas Tree permits on or about November 1st each year. Each permit allows for the harvesting of one Christmas tree from Lassen National Forest lands. Permits sell for $10.00 each, and the maximum allowed per household is two permits.
Christmas Tree Permits 2025
Lassen National Forest will begin selling Christmas tree permits on November 1, 2025. Plan and check that your favorite cutting areas are available ahead of time before purchasing a permit, as all sales are final.
Lassen National Forest Christmas Tree Permits cannot be purchased online or at any other national forest. Our offices are currently closed, but accepting Christmas Tree Permit orders by mail. See below for our mail order Christmas Tree Permit Form.
Permits can be purchased November 1 - December 24, 2025 during regular business hours at any of our district offices. All Forest Service offices are closed for Federal Holidays and will be closed on Tuesday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day and Thursday, November 27 for the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
