Swift Complex-Peak Fire Overview: Firefighters continue constructing fireline up Mule Creek toward its headwaters and along the ridge east of Granite Peak. Today is the last day of the spike camps for the firefighters who have been staying overnight near the north edge of the fire along Granite Peak Ridge. These crews will continue to improve containment lines directly on the fire's edge, extinguish heat, and then near the end of the day, hike out of the wilderness. The fire is holding within the containment lines on the east and firefighters will patrol to ensure that no heat threatens those lines today. Crews are improving contingency lines by grading roads and masticating vegetation to reduce the risk of potential fire spread toward homes and evacuation routes near Long Canyon. Firefighters on the southern flank are patrolling for heat sources, rollout, and other hazards. Helicopters remain committed.
Swift Complex-Lick Fire Overview: Yesterday, an unmanned aerial system got infrared imaging over the fire area which showed very little remaining heat. Today crews will patrol for those remaining heat sources and extinguish them. Shasta-Trinity National Forest will be taking command of the Lick Fire tomorrow.
Swift Complex Resources: 641 personnel
Cedar Fire Overview: Firefighter’s hard work is paying off in increased containment on the Cedar Fire. Today crews will be mopping up and patrolling and addressing heat sources.
Cedar Fire Resources: 232 personnel
Long Term: The weather forecast looking into early next week is calling for rain showers over the fires’ area as early as late Sunday night. Rain amounts could be up to ¼ of an inch.
Current Fire Weather: High temperatures in the mid-70s. Winds from the south and southwest around 8 mph with gusts up to 22 mph. Relative humidity ranging from 20-30% during afternoon hours, recovering to 50-60% overnight. This cooling trend will continue into early next week.
Closures: The Shasta-Trinity National Forest has issued a Fire Closure Order – Forest Order No. 14-25-22. This is effective August 30, 2025, through January 31, 2026. To view the order and map, please click on the link to Peak Fire Closure Order.
Flight Restrictions: There is a temporary flight restriction (TFR) over the Swift Complex fire area. Please check official sources prior to flying in the area. If you fly, we can’t.
Public Safety: Recreators are asked to stay away from trails and trailheads in the Long Canyon, Four Lakes Loop, Stoney Ridge, Stuart Fork, Swift Creek, Granite Peak, and North Fork Swift Creek as these are primary access routes for firefighters. Please be advised that there will be increased fire traffic on Hwy 3. Clark Springs Campground, Day Use Area, Beach and Boat Ramp are closed to the public to support firefighting operations.
