The timber sale program on the Forest plays a role in the agency’s top priority to maintain and improve the health, diversity, and productivity of the nation’s forests and grasslands to meet the needs of current and future generations. Forest management focuses on managing vegetation, restoring ecosystems, reducing hazards, and maintaining forest health.
Having sustainable, healthy, resilient forests in the future depends on our ability to increase work on the ground today. The timber sale program treats stands reducing insect and disease, hazard trees, and fuels improving forest health.

The effective date of October 1, 2020 referenced in the letter is the date the 5 year recomputation would have been effective. The Structural Change share percentage effective date is April 1, 2020 as specified in the Shasta Structural Change Share Percentage Decision Letter dated June 12, 2020
