Sno-Park: Orr Creek

This site is in a mature and varied forest setting interspersed with mountain meadows and geographic features, north and west of Mt. Adams Wilderness. Parking for 35 vehicles. Shelter with wood stove. Trail system includes 154 miles. Vault toilets are located near Takhlakh Lake and Midway Meadows.

Current Conditions
(3/10/25): Approximately 1/4 inch of fresh snow on Forest Road 56 to Sno-Park. Roads are actively being groomed and maintained for Snow Recreation. High clearance and traction tires are advised up to Sno-Park.Sno-Park passes are required December 1-March 31. This Sno-Park is managed by Washington State Parks. Active snow mobile road route closed to all wheeled vehicles.

Day use only: open sunrise to sunset

Washington State Sno-Park Permit is required for each vehicle December 1 to March 31. Sno-Park permits are available to purchase online and also at Ashford Valley Grocery in Ashford, Trout Lake Grocery in Trout Lake and the Chelatchie Prairie General Store in Amboy. 

  • Sno-park permits help pay for snow removal, trail grooming, sanitation facilities, mapping, trail signs, safety education, enforcement and program administration.

The following roads are closed to regular motorized wheeled vehicles for Seasonal Designation: FR 21, FR 56, FR 5603 and FR 2339, From Junction of FR2329 and FR23 to south towards Trout Lake or to FR 90 is also closed. All Forest Road Seasonal Designation Closures are listed after page 5 in the Motorized Vehicle Use Map  . Motorized vehicles are not allowed in the nearby Goat Rocks and Mt. Adams Wilderness areas. Violations of 36 CFR 261 may result in confiscation of equipment, fines up to $5,000.00, and/or six months in jail.

Directions

From Randle, WA head south on Highway 131 (Cispus Road) to Forest Road 23 to Forest Road 21, to Forest Road 56, to Forest Road 5603. Orr Creek Sno-Park is 26 miles from Randle. You will encounter paved roads, chip-sealed roads and a short section of gravel.

Forest Road 23 is plowed by Lewis County to the junction with Forest Road 28. The rest of the road system to Orr Creek is plowed by the Forest Service, using funds provided through the State Parks and Recreation Commission. Roads are normally plowed prior to the weekend and as needed during the week.
